Julie Ong

Julie Ong is an engineer-turned fundraising professional whose career journey has brought her to mission-driven work. She currently serves as the Managing Director of External Affairs for OneGoal, where she leads a team that comprises development, event planning, and communications functions for the Illinois region. OneGoal is a college and career access nonprofit whose vision is that every student has an equitable opportunity to achieve their greatest aspirations. Her work at OneGoal brought her together with first generation students from low income communities adjusting to college. Hearing their stories, including experiencing mental health challenges, has given her an appreciation for the need to have equitable access to mental health support. Julie herself is a first generation college graduate who studied chemical engineering at Northwestern University. She lives on the north side of the city with her husband, Nam, and two kids.
