"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
- Maya Angelou
Therapy is a creative space for liberation and transformation. I believe we grow the most when we are challenged and uncomfortable, which translates to my sessions by working to co-create a safe space to navigate discomfort. As a Black woman, a Caribbean, a Spanish speaker, and a Bronx native, I value how my upbringing and culture shapes my worldview. In the therapy room, I reflect together with clients about their own childhoods, cultures, and beliefs to better understand their life stories. My style of therapy is rooted in authenticity, vulnerability, and storytelling. It includes curiosity, playfulness, and many - and I mean many - reflective questions.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Psychology and Black Studies. After graduating, I served as a Case Manager on the West side of Chicago and am familiar with helping clients gain access to community tools and resources they need to not only survive but heal. In the last decade I have also worked alongside children and adolescents in school settings as a tutor and mentor.
I look forward to working with couples, families, and individuals to explore relationship patterns and provide services in English and Spanish. My clinical focus includes couples, intergenerational and immigrant families, single parent households, and multicultural identity exploration. When I am not working with clients, I go on walks, listen to music, and refresh my curls for the week.
